After discussed the issues we are having regarding the management of our building with a number of people/organisations who have experience, it seems the only way forward is to form a Residents’ Association. The Property Associations quick guide can be found here.
The Model Constitution is quite standard so don’t be put off with the formality of it. Once formed the landlord and managing agents have to consult with us on matters relating to our building. We need at least 50% of owners to sign up for a landlord to grant recognition, otherwise we would have to apply to the Tribunal. There would be a joining fee, but this could just be a nominal amount of £5.00. We will need to open a not for profit bank account for the association. We plan to have a drinks and nibbles do in the courtyard on Friday 30th May 6pm onwards. So please put a note in your diary. This will be to celebrate finishing off the courtyard and answer any questions about setting up a Residents’ Association. While ever we continue to get things done as individuals, they will just continue to ignore us, we have to start acting as one group.
